May this talented man rest in piece. Here is a look at one of his last lines before taking his life.

In his last collection ever, Alexander McQueen leaves us on the highest of notes with his ’70s punk-and-English, gentleman-inspired collection. From Dr. Marten-esque shoes with metal-tipped toes to tailored trench-coats to leopard-print suspenders, McQueen blessed us with the signature wild elements he’s known for while still paying tribute to the British rock scene in a simplified, wearable way.

Maybe you have never heard of him, but in the fashion world he is quickly becoming a household name…well he already is. Jason Wu designed the inauguration Gown that the First Lady Michelle Obama wore. The very pretty White one with White Florets.  Found this Article with pictures on Elle Online.

Forty-eight hours before his fall 2010 show, the feeling in Jason Wu’s new West Side headquarters is that of calm chaos. The 27-year-old designer invited us into his 11th-floor showroom for a glimpse at the new collection, which for the first time includes sunglasses, scarves, and jewelry by Aurélie Bidermann. Fall 2010 is inspired by Irving Penn, “both his work and the way he dressed,” said Wu. The day look for fall (masculine, slouchy, and strong) mirrors the way Penn actually wore clothes. For evening, Wu took inspiration from the nuanced quality of Penn’s platinum prints, translating that visual effect into a feather dress with an overlay of tulle. “You have to look twice to figure out what’s going on with the fabric. I always think about what’s less obvious,” explains Wu. The designer, with stylist Tina Chai by his side, showed us a color-infused printed top and skirt look from the new collection. After quickly changing out the chunky leaf necklace for a more abstract style, the longtime collaborators exclaimed, in unison, “I love it.”

Enjoy the behind the scenes photos as he prepares for New Fashion Week Fall 2010. I’m in love with the lace Cuffs.  In fact I will post those first. All Photos by Kelly Stuart

I love it…I really love the Victorian/ Equestrian styled pieces. The nets over the hats have always been a staple of femininity in my eyes. I think it’s so sexy.  The gowns…I don’t know what to say I really love the Princess Feel. I don’t see anybody rocking this on the red carpet though. Joan Rivers would probably have a field day. You get to a point where you start to see some inpiration of the 50′s and they look like June Cleaver Couture, but they are all still hot.

Check out this Cool Pic of my friend Dana. The photographer a guy from our high school. Love it.

I have always taken pride in being that person who knows  more then they probably should because I’m always curious to learn about everything. I’m always watching the history channel, biography, national geographic or something.

During the holidays I had  all my dinners at my god-parents house. One hour or two around them, and you began to fill silly, ignorant and unworthy of their conversation. Not because they do it on purpose, but because they are very intellectual, and by nature… They have no issue if you are clueless, but at the same time, its no fun having a one sided conversation and just nodding your head. So whenever they mentioned something or someone, I would immediately buy a book, or get on google.

During dinner for New Years/Slash my god brothers birthday I wore a cool pair of earrings I purchased at Sheckys Girls Night out.  I has no idea that they actually meant. So my god-mother she looks over at me and says. “You got your Fulani’s you look so beautiful in them”  My response…while looking around to see what she meant. I see her eye balling my earrings. “oh yeah…they took forever you put in”  End of conversation.

What the hell was a Fulani? I had no idea… So I did my research.

The Fulani Tribe is known as the nomadic peoples who have been influential in regional politics, economics, and histories throughout western Africa for over a thousand years. Thousands! A Muslim tribe they are responsible for bringing Islam and spreading it throughout most of West Africa. They are 6 million plus strong to this day. They are one of the oldest tribes in Africa.

While I was unable to find any information to see if maybe the earrings have a significant meaning, or perhaps they are a right of passage. I did notice that are way huge, when worn buy those of the Fulani Tribes. Our version is small. They Flatten out brass plates and twist them in these beautiful earrings. The actual post is a bit large, and probably can’t fit every bodies ears.

The Hunger Site Sells them for 19.95 and with each purchase they will donate 50 Cups of food to those in need.

African Imports has Silver Fulanis for 31.00

If you live near any ethnic markets you may be able to find them. I’m sure a simple google search will lead you in the right direction.

I don’t really consider the “plus size” model that big, but you can tell the difference. I don’t know if you all remember my article on Mark Fast who showed Plus Size and Regular Models in his runway show. There were mixed reactions from those thinking that the models where Obese. In my opinion the models he had were healthy looking compared to the other models but far from obese.

IF IT’S BRIGHT ENOUGH, TIGHT ENOUGH, OR EYE-POPPINGLY PRINTED ENOUGH, ODDS ARE IT’LL WORK ON ANY FIGURE. CRYSTAL RENN, MODEL AND AUTHOR OF HUNGRY, AND JACQUELYN JABLONSKI, SPRING’S NEW STAR, SHOW OFF THE SEASON’S MOST SIZZLING LOOKS
