More importantly about my grandfather, I kept away from from him, and given this impression of him that he was someone who was too strict, too serious, and too uptight. Even as a child I was a bit hot tempered, because no one understood why I wasn’t so laid back. I was a bit uptight, a bit serious, and all without any exposure to my grandfather. They made his out to be the outsider of the family, when all he ever wanted was the best for all of his children in Trinidad and here in the States. The mind of certain foreigners are drastically different compared to Americans. I could go into the story of my grandfather and how he came with nothing and is now living the American dream but that would be at least 3 more paragraphs.

I have nobody standing in my way these days. It amazes me that since I have listened to my grandfather I have gotten so far in life. I don’t worry about certain issues, I don’t stress as much, I have a different way of thinking.  I have this thirst to learn so much. I honestly don’t want to brag about it, I don’t have to share everything that I learn. Truth is even as a child I read alot. I didn’t like going outside to get dirty. I would sit and draw or read a book about Ancient Rome and Egypt, watch Julia Childs with my grandmother, and PBS…I was in all sorts of programs, Saturday Academy, Dance, and Girl Scouts just to name a few. It might sound boring. I was never into trends, I never had a pair of jordans, I never went to a Go-Go, I never looked up to Artist , or followed trends. My idea of a good day would be spending the day downtown, or on the National Mall, or volunteering with my other Girl Scouts.

For that I was called a Nerd, A Geek, uptight, White girl, Oreo…you name it and I was called it. All because I didn’t follow the trends that everybody else did. I didn’t get pleasure out of talking about TV shows the next day with the other children. I didn’t care about making my mother pay crazy amounts of money on school clothes. I had chores, I had a schedule, and I found other things important.

Even as an adult I’m finding myself in the same position.  I maintained my interest, World News, International Affairs, History, Reading, and Exploring. I tend to shy away from chain restaurants, by either cooking trying out a new recipe, or seeking independent places to eat. I like to go out to lunch, and window shop. I’m still not into trendy words like Swagger ( which when you look it up has nothing to do with what people equate it with today) , and I’m currently trying to correct my grammar when I speak, and write, and present myself as a better person.  I still read books and keep them in my purse. My latest, the History of the Caribbean. I get annoyed when people complain about college, I get offended when people who think that i’m a fool for going to school because they know some one who knows another person that its making it in the world, and didn’t graduate.  So many of the things that people find important clubbing, hooking up, and gossip. I could care less about.

While I’m not all prude and serious, I do indulge in a bit of gossip, I listen to all 20 G’s of my music by every current and older artist you can think of . I just don’t hold the artist in such high regard. Now don’t get me wrong. I live a very enjoyable life. I love going out, I love hanging with my friends, and doing everything that I can to have fun. My idea of a good time is just different. I love to drink, I love to get crazy, but I also know my limits. I know what to say out my mouth after a few incidents. I learn from mistakes in a nutshell. This all brings me to my point. So yes a person who is serious about their life, and not doing silly things for entertainment is still able to have fun, and live life to fullest which is something I do everyday.

My point is that, although I was raised in one of the more poorer areas of D.C. my family never played the victim. I was taught outside the classroom, I was exposed to life, taught to think outside the box regardless of my families drama or financial situations, and never to play the victim. I was taught that there is always someone out there who has had it worst, to be thankful and work hard.  I was taught to ripping and running will only get you so far. That your friends the true ones at least will be there to support you when you want to better yourself, and the people who aren’t don’t need to be in the equation.

So now that I’m in school, and working. When i go to look for a man I’m finding that I’m not satisfied with the selection of African American men my age. If anything I claim my West Indian roots, and we sometimes beat to our own drum. We don’t fall into alot of the trends, or worry about the things that some Americans do, and sometimes we do… The more and more I get to know a man my age, and my race I’m finding that I have nothing in common with them.

I keep meeting men my age that think that they are a rapper and are only have that as their goal in life. Who have no goals beyond what club they are going to club at that night. Men who rent an apartment and the only thing he has to his name is a set of 2000.00 rims on a bucket.  The men that spend all their time on twitter bragging about how good life is, but clearly have enough time to twitter about it.  Men who abuse the word swagger because they wear a couple of name brand shirts, and jeans.  Men who only live by Gucci Mane and Wayne Lyrics, and think that I’m suppose to give up my goodies because he took me to the 2 for 20 at Applebees. The kind who are so obsessed with thinking that every woman who isn’t into giving up their cookies are uptight, but they swear live by the rule that you can’t turn a hoe into a housewife. When these men reach out to me I can’t get past the first thing coming out their mouth is ” Hey Sweetheart, can I get some time to conversate with you?” I can’t get past a man who thinks that me going to college “is for the birds” .  These are all real life experiences. I know and I’m clearly aware that men my age might not want anything but a good ole hookup. Then you have some men, who go through all the trouble to spit his game, take a girl out to dinner, maybe he call him his boo, have sex, and soon she is a hoe, or playing games because he was too lazy to get to know her before committing. There are so men out there that either are too chicken to say he just wants to hit, or too stupid to realize that he is going after a chick for the wrong reasons. Young men who are seriously into making a fool of themselves, and who are ignorant to everything except whats going in their little bubble.

People don’t know these things that I have seen…so they don’t understand when I expand my dating pool. I get the “girl, I love my black men” … “I love a thug” …”nice guys don’t do anything for me”.  Don’t get me wrong I love Black men, but I love all men first and foremost no matter what color.  When looking for a man I look for certain things regardless of looks. I was told for way to long as a child that I wasn’t the ideal of beauty. Not that I turned into Tyra Banks, but those same people who said that to me, now don’t even realize who I am. I get messages asking can I take you out, and they don’t even realize we went to school together. So those things don’t matter to me, all I see is if this man is a gentlemen, what the first things he mentions when we go out on a date. I look for a man that can hold a real conversation. A man that is willing to explore some of D.C with me, who holds my interest. I’m not willing to give myself up, and I’m not willing to compromise with a man who thinks I’m a goody two shoes for not wanting to participate in shenanigans.

I just hate to say that, the more and more I go out with an African American man they aren’t meeting those standards.  Please let me know if after reading this my standards are high when it comes to this. They are too busy texting, calling me sexy because they don’t care to remember my name, some one asked me when was the last time I had a spanking…I mean I can’t take them seriously. If anything I just want to see  a man who says he  high standards and actually backs it up, The men who say they want a woman, when they complain that they are tired of hoodrats, and hoes because only date based on looks. You can’t look past the weaves, lashes, and falseness to see that there are some good serious black women, with good heads on their shoulders.  Woman who want to make something out of life, but know when to be serious about life. Women who work hard, and play hard.  I’m opening up my eyes, ears, and heart to a different breed of man which a lot of times ends up not being and African American.  Not to say that I haven’t met some nice men of African decent, they just aren’t from America.

Some of my men issues are because of me I totally get that, but I realize those issues. So now, I’m only interested in men that have something to say and have something going on with themselves which I have always been, but I pledge to not let it go any further once I realize they don’t have that quality.  I still have faith in my black men, but they need to have faith in themselves if they want a good woman like myself.  I still have my faith in African American men, perhaps they have some catching up to do, but until then I will enjoy myself with my International Breed of men who actually want a good woman as their company for dinner.

Every time she hung out with her single female friends, the same gripes surfaced. Enough already with the how-to-snag-a-guy advice streaming from anyone and everyone as soon as status single was announced, they said.

Suddenly, Karin Anderson, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology at Concordia University Chicago, found herself keeping track of what these single women were saying, replacing the strict academic research techniques she was used to with more informal polling.

What she found was a deluge of well-meaning advice being issued to singles that, while offered with the best of intentions, not only wasn’t working but was making singles’ skin crawl.

“The message to singles tends to be that they’re doing something wrong, ‘You’re too this’ or ‘You’re not enough that.’ Being single is treated as this problem that needs to be solved,” says Anderson. “That’s really bogus. We should be telling single women, ‘You’re fine. There’s nothing wrong. Enjoy your life.’”
These five snippets of well-meaning advice to singles top Anderson’s list of worst offenses. Here’s why.

1) What’s Said: MAYBE YOU’RE NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH.
What’s Heard: “This can come off sounding like you’re passing judgment on effort,” says Anderson. “It’s better to encourage a single person to explore new relationships to the extent they are comfortable and to extend themselves in ways that feel natural and not forced.”

2) What’s Said: WEAR MORE MAKEUP.
What’s Heard: More than implying that the search for Mr. Right is as easy as brushing a spot of color onto the cheeks, this comment offends further by actually attacking a person’s core identity. “A woman presents herself according to what she defines as meaningful. Whether her style is glamorous belle or au naturelle, every woman should be allowed to be herself. There’s a man out there who is going to be attracted to her style, whatever it is. If she’s presenting herself as anyone other than who she really is, that’s false advertising and that’s going to backfire.”

3) What’s Said: GET BACK OUT THERE!
What’s Heard: This can send the signal that the single person is simply not doing enough speed or Internet or blind dating, or worse, that she isn’t living a full enough life. “Singles are not by definition hiding out in their closets curled up in the fetal position all day,” says Anderson. “Most are likely working, meeting friends out for dinner and events, working out.”

4) What’s Said: YOU’RE TOO PICKY.
What’s Heard: This implies that at some point, a point that the single friend or loved one has reached, she is no longer allowed to be discriminating, says Anderson. “This sends single women the message that their time to be choosy is up, that it’s now time to go out and pick up any chump.”

5) What’s Said: TONE IT DOWN A NOTCH.
What’s Heard: You ask too many questions. You’re too intimidating. You’re overly opinionated. You’re too consumed with work. “This is interpreted by single women to mean that they have to dial down their core identity a notch in order to attract potential suitors and make them feel comfortable,” says Anderson. “Suggesting that a woman reduce the fullness of who she is to lure a mate will lead to an inauthentic connection, and is a recipe for a disastrous relationship or marriage. Because really, how long can any person fake it and maintain a facade?”

When I made attempts to date. I will be very honest and say that a lot of the times. I was the last choice for men. I don’t know why. I always got that Bittersweet ” I love you like a kid sister” line.

Great ” At least I know I have a  good personality” , but not good enough to date. Somewhere in between I started to think that maybe it was my looks, my weight, or maybe I was just too open for some. I dressed nicely, wore Make -up , stayed up with Fashion, and I didn’t think my sex game  was too bad.

 I would always wonder why when walking with a group of females I was the last one to get hollered at.  I remember I was walking with my best friend, We both had on Black. A Guy goes… ” Aye Black shirt,  oh not you, your friend” Then I would get “the Grin”  If i was “lucky” enough to get hollered at it was more than likely it was the unattractive greasy friend.

 I never liked playing the Victim, but I was a nice girl and I still am. I wouldn’t say that I’m oozing of sex appeal, but I think that I’m alright looking. At 26years old,  from the day that ever showed interest in boys I have heard enough rejection that it had turned me off from dating, and drained me. I feel like I’m literally to a point that I’m not datable.  Now I know that I’m young, but I wonder if anybody else has had to deal with this?  I am hard working, I like to go out, very mature, and very cultured. What do you all think is the issue?

I have given up on looking. I did that years ago. The men I have come across have felt my wrath of being to critical of them. I now think that every man is pushing game to get at me. I don’t even know how to except a compliment anymore. I’m so used to be the last one picked on the team by men, that I feel like I don’t know any better. I always told myself that I didn’t need a man to tell me anything anymore.  Everything that i saw in the men that rejected me, I now reject other men for those same traits. If that makes sense.

Rejected Beauty

Pregame P***y:

• While a man is watching the game we like to eat, drink and be merry, so make your man some snacks. Make a platter of chips and dips, and make some buffalo wings. If you click here you can find a great recipe. The good thing about this is that it takes times for the wings to cook. So that gives you a good 30 minutes for sex and other activities. While the wings are in the oven, walk in front of the television, bend over and pick something up. Climb on top of your man and nibble on his neck. Hey if you have to put it in your mouth and go to work then do it. Your goal is to get a nice quickie before kick off, pull the wings out prepare the set up and leave him alone.

Halftime Hump:

• Nothing really important ever happens during halftime, at least during the regular season. So here is your chance to get a little bit more attention. If you’ve left your man alone for the first half call him into the room you’re in. When he walks in you should be completely naked and waiting. You have about 15 minutes for a killer quickie. He won’t mind missing a few plays for some amazing oral, a opportunity to give you a few back shots or just an amazing quickie on your dresser. After he’s done tell him to enjoy the rest of the game. If you’ve done it right you might be able to watch the rest of the game with him. Don’t ask too many questions, just take some mental notes and hit the google and do some research it’s not the hard to learn about football.

3rd Quarter Cooch:

• This is your last chance to really get it popping. While you’re drinking w/ your man, eating wings and chips make your move. Kiss him during a commercial break. Feel him up during a time out, or just simply put it in your mouth. No sane man will ever turn down head even if it is the super bowl. Put him in your mouth, flick your tongue along the bottom of his peen, drip some saliva down the shaft and get busy. After wing sex and some half time humping it should be his turn to give you a tongue spanking. Grab his head and push it down in your lap and tell him to get busy. Men like aggressive women who are not scared to make the first move. So make him eat.

4th and Long:

• If it’s a good game, then he’s not going to want to be bothered or disturbed during the end of the game, but as soon as it’s over you have him. As soon as the final whistle blows you should too. Start some amazing sex, in the living room or move the party to the dining room or another room you don’t normally make love in. Plan ahead and buy some toys or a nice fantasy outfit. (Nurse, Maid or Cheerleader) This will add a bit more excitement and let you celebrate his team beating their rivals. Remember there is nothing better than some head on a Sunday afternoon.

At the end of the day, there is no reason why football should have all of your man’s attention. We as men are just so focused on our sports that we just don’t take the time to think about sex on Sundays. There is no rule that says a woman can’t take the lead on this one day and distract us for a few moments. After the game is over allow your man to dive inside of you and be immersed in your sexy.

In no way am i’m suggesting that you have to do this, but if you have a man, you might want to make sure he stays his butt at home. So if you want to get and keep your man, creative things like this, will make him remember your ass, the next time he is eyeing another one…. I’m just saying.
