I can’t recall a time where I’ve went on a blog and brought a product that another blogger had. That changed on November 25th. I had been eyeing these weird looking shoes for awhile after I spotted them on ManRepeller. If you’ve been living under a Fashion Blog Rock for the past few months Leandra has cleared the way for women to dress in a manner that says… “i don’t give a shit if this isn’t sexy” I’m wearing it because I love it.  This includes wierd shoes, drop crotch harlem pants, and collars. While I can’t afford half the stuff she blogs, I admire her for not caring and being herself. She manages to style herself with pieces you wouldn’t normally put together. But i’m sure it helps that she is like a size 2, and has tiny baby feet in the form of a 6. Anyway I couldn’t fade the hearty price tag on the shoes,  well until Black Friday came around. I decided to treat myself, with the big discounts of course, and i’m glad I did, because most of the good sizes where sold out before they reduced the price again.  Still a little hefty to me, but I really love them, and I know I’ll get great use of out them for a few more winters.

I’m still breaking them in. I wore them to Bloggers Night Out DC. I didn’t get a picture of my outfit but I did find a picture of them on Jenni of Comme Coco’s Blog. I got a lot of Ooohs and Ahhh’s and a few Twitter comments as they are now my Twitter Avi.

Not really…but I did style for the first time, and boy was it fun. I almost fell out my chair when I got my first ” fashion related” PR email. I thought it was a joke at first. Since it seemed as if I was sending out a ton of emails at one point to PR agencies but never a reply. I knew I wasn’t doing something right, but this time they came to us. CapFabb that is. Poor Lola of LaForce + Stevens apparently went through every site in the directory and invited a majority of us out to style for Eddie Bauer’s Bloggers Day!  So Vivi of Heart Print Style and I took off to Tyson’s only after getting lost in some area with an array of mansions,  we oohhhh and ahhh’ed for a good ten minutes until we finally found Tyson’s mall.

The objective was to use the newest fall collection and make a sexy outfit or at least an attractive one. When I first saw the email I was immediately taken back to grade school when Eddie Bauer was ALL the rage, and us little chicas dreamed of having a husband who drove an Eddie Bauer edition Navigator.

Our objective to bring all the boys to yard with a great selection of outwear, jeans, and plaid! We were provided two models, and everything that was part of the new fall collection including  trapper hats, jewelry, and handbags. Kelsey and Tyler where our models for the night. Kinda like live dress up dolls!

I first styled Tyler.

Four Pocket Leather Jacket

Classic Fit Cotton/Cashmere V-Neck Sweater

Relaxed Fit Eddie’s Favorite Flannel Shirt

Possibly: Authentic Denim Slim Fit Jeans (In dark Rinse)

Kelsey was up next.

Crinkle Utility Shirt | Chambray Utility Shirt | 1942 Yukon Model Reversible Plaid Down Vest

Essential Slim Jeans Beanie Hat

Diamond Quilted Wallet as a Clutch

I was told that the boots were custom boots that would go with a lot of the outfits I couldn’t find them on the Eddie Bauer Site.

A good friend of mine hosted the third annual Art is Life event. Her main objective was to raise money for Cancer. Of course with my aunt having cancer, and my grandmother dying of cancer I had to participate. I never expected to cover this event out of fear of not being prepared. The day came and I wasn’t prepared haha. I ended up seeing a ton of people I went to school with, and two other friends that where part of the media team. Mario let me play around with his lenses and how I know what I really need. I took that chance to take some street style pictures and started a new blog ” Petillant Street“  for that as well. It’s strictly street style for those who live, play, and visit DC. I’m convinced that DC’s urban areas has its own unique style .  In other news I did meet some cool stylist, and designers and once I organize I’ll be doing some interviews.

I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from the event. Hopefully I can add more once I get pictures from some other photographers. Here are all of the pictures one my ( FB Fan ) page as well.

I think this was my favorite outfit of the day.

So I must Share my trip to New York.  So of you might not know that I’m West Indian. Both sides of my mothers family are traced back to Trinidad, St.Vincent, Curacao,Aruba, and I think that’s it :) . So anyway I went to visit my grandfathers side. His niece who hadn’t seen she was so 12 years old flew in from Germany to fly in to NY before coming to DC to visit us. So when I found out that they were surprising her with her daughter a cousin of mine that I’m very close with I got a bus ticket.

I get to Manhattan…and the trip came off to a Rocky Start. Apparently I googled the wrong address. I forgot to put Brooklyn in there so I basically had to wait two hours for my cousins to pick me up.  Up since 3:30 am…I was tired. When they arrived it was no time before we were shopping…I found some really nice stuff after fooling around with my cousins.

My cousin found this cute yellow jacket leather, of course my boobs wouldn’t let me get one. I found one in a red color, with a hood. So nice. I ended up finding a very nice Houndstooth Jacket, a pair or brown leather booties, and a nice necklace that I have to alter because the bead fell off. That’s what happens when get a necklace for 8 dollars.

This is the necklace which i cropped out the broken part.

So my trip ended well for the most part. I saw a lot of family that I never met. I decided I’m going up to canada for xmas to visit the rest of them as well. Curacao for a family reunion next year and Germany to visit my cousin that came down to visit. I think next year will be so fun, including the wedding I’m going to be in next November.

It’s sad that we didn’t get to do more site seeing in New York. Hopefully we will get a chance to go again next year and take a lot of picture. In fact I think that going at the end of September to see the kind tut exhibit with my Boyfriend. That should be really fun.
